  Awarded NSF Grant for Mathematics Study  
  NSF Grant   Associate Professor Susanne Jaeggi has received a NSF grant to student the impact of tablet computer games on kindergartners' math knowledge.
  Honored During UCI's Celebration of Teaching  
  Drew Bailey Honored   Assistant Professor Drew Bailey was honored for outstanding undergraduate teaching at UC Irvine's 23rd Celebration of Teaching. Dr. Bailey researches math development, individual differences, and longitudinal methods.
  Student Research Featured at Data Mining Symposium  
  Data Mining   School of Education doctoral students showcased their research findings at UCI's 2016 Research Symposium, "Fostering Literacy and Learning with Text and Data Mining."
  Faculty Mentor Undergraduate Research  
  UROP   SoE faculty and doctoral students mentored undergraduate students as they developed research projects for presentation during UC Irvine's Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium.
  Alumna Honored at UCI's Lauds & Laurels Celebration  
  Feliza Ortiz-Licon   Dr. Feliza Ortiz-Licon was honored as the School of Education's Distinguished Alumna during UCI's 46th Lauds & Laurel's Celebration. Dr. Ortiz-Licon is Senior Director of the National Council of La Raza and a member of the California State Board of Education.
  Ph.D. in Education Student Accomplishments Highlighted/Awards Announced  
  Student Accomplishments   SoE's annual recognition ceremony congratulates graduating and current doctoral students on their achievements during the past academic year, including publications in peer reviewed journals, presentations at conferences, and scholarships/fellowships received.

CASE Awards 43 Certificates in Afterschool Education

  CASE Awards   The School of Education hosted an awards ceremony for the 43 undergraduates who earned their Certificate in Afterschool Education (CASE) this year by completing six courses and a minimum 70 hours of field experience in university designated afterschool locations.
  Awarded Keith Curry Undergraduate Scholarship  
  Keith Curry Scholarship   Melissa Lu has received the 2016 Keith Curry Undergraduate Scholarship for outstanding scholarship and unusual perseverance in pursuing her education. Dr. Curry, CEO of Compton Community College and a SoE alumnus, presented the award to Ms. Lu during a reception in May.

  Citizen Scientists Visit UCI  
  Project CRYSTAL   Students from Roosevelt Elementary in Santa Ana who are participating in Project CRYSTAL as citizen scientists visited UCI as a culminating research activity. The students have been research the ecology challenge (native vs. invasive non-native plants) at Crystal Cove State Park.
  The School of Education seeks to promote educational success and achievement of ethnically and economically diverse learners of all ages through our collective research, teaching, and service activities that foster learning and development in and out of school.
