Joanna Yau is a doctoral student at UC Irvine’s School of Education specializing in Language, Literacy, and Technology (LLT). She graduated with honors from the University of Southern California with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Sports Media. She was born in Buffalo, New York, but has also lived in Hong Kong, Maryland, Indiana, Oregon, and California.
Working with a diverse group of students, including second language learners and students with learning disabilities, at USC’s Student-Athlete Academic Services and the Kortschak Center for Learning and Creativity first sparked her interests in literacy and technology.
Joanna’s research interests include technology in education, academic vocabulary development, and second language acquisition.
