Biography
Chris Wegemer studies youth civic engagement with a particular focus on social networks and psychological antecedents. His work involves establishing long-term partnerships with local schools and community organizations to collectively develop innovative and equitable solutions to problems of practice.
Chris has received the following degrees: B.S. in Applied Physics from Providence College, B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University, M.A. in Global and International Studies from UC Santa Barbara, and M.A. in Education from UC Irvine. Prior to joining the UCI School of Education, Chris held several positions in educational contexts, including teacher, consultant, program director, and a live-in "dorm parent.”
Three passions have defined Chris’ professional trajectory: understanding the human condition through collaborative research, empowering youth through liberational teaching, and achieving positive social change through direct action.
