Tasha Tormey - proactive, persistent, passionate - is a Master of Arts in Teaching candidate pursuing her multiple subject bilingual Spanish dual-immersion teaching credential.
Tormey received a Promising Master of Arts in Teaching award at the School of Education's 2019-2020 Scholarship Awards Ceremony on November 1.
Promising Master of Arts in Teaching awards, provided through a Hispanic Serving Institution grant from the U.S. Department of Education, support students who demonstrate the potential to become inspirational teachers.
"After graduating UC Irvine with a Bachelor in Fine Arts in Musical Theater," Tormey said, "I performed professionally as an actress/singer in plays, film/TV & commercials across the US. I realized education was my true calling after completing a residency teaching theater to children at HIS House, a transitional homeless shelter for families in Placentia. I have substitute taught across Los Angeles and worked as a private tutor for over two years. I am a proud member of California Association for Bilingual Education and the International Literacy Association."
