Edras Castellon Vasquez - carefree, caring, complex - is a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) candidate pursuing his single subject teaching credential in social science.
Vasquez received a Promising Master of Arts in Teaching award at the School of Education's 2019-2020 Scholarship Awards Ceremony on November 1.
Promising Master of Arts in Teaching awards, provided through a Hispanic Serving Institution grant from the U.S. Department of Education, support students who demonstrate the potential to become inspirational teachers. "I have been able to interact with many different people of all ages and different backgrounds and from those interactions the one I am most fond of is teaching others," said Vasquez. "Teaching is the best way that I see myself helping others in my community. Through my discipline and the resources I will continue to gain, I hope to empower these students with knowledge and resources they could use to succeed well beyond their time in school. With this award I hope to buy tools that will aid me in my study and development of lessons for my students."
