Faculty associated with the UCI Master of Arts in Teaching+Teaching Credential gathered on June 2 in the Glacier Bay room, Continuing Education building, for their quarterly retreat, supported by a donation from SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union.
The MAT spring retreat provided an opportunity to assess 2016-2017 accomplishments and plan for the coming academic year.
In the morning segment, faculty shared their experiences with the current alignment of curriculum and core commitments and the impact of collaborative efforts to deliver a high quality experience to candidates. Program director Elizabeth van Es gave a status report on the 9-campus UCOP grant to develop the California Teacher Education Research & Improvement Network - CETRIN, and facilitated a discussion of equity in the classroom.
In the afternoon segment, Will Callanen provided a Vosaic demonstration, and Director of Teacher Education Virginia Panish led a session devoted to organizing syllabi to map onto the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) program matrix.
The next faculty retreat will be held during winter quarter, 2018.
