UC Irvine School of Education faculty recognized among top 100 influential education scholars nationwide in 2025
Greg Duncan and Richard Arum were named in this year's RHSU Edu-Scholar Public Influence Rankings for their contributions to public discussions of education

Two esteemed UC Irvine School of Education faculty members, Distinguished Professor Greg Duncan and Professor Richard Arum, have been named influential education scholars according to the 2025 RHSU Edu-Scholar Public Influence Rankings. Duncan is No. 88 and Arum is No. 97 in the rankings, underscoring their impact in shaping educational practice and policy. They were among the top 200 considered based on a pool of more than 20,000 university-based education faculty nationwide who effectively translate academic insights into the broader national conversation.
The RHSU Edu-Scholar Public Influence Rankings is released annually by Frederick M. Hess, director of education policy studies for the American Enterprise Institute and Education Week blogger. This list spotlights scholars making substantial contributions to the national education dialogue by utilizing eight comprehensive metrics to gauge the impact of scholars on public discussions related to education. Metrics include, but are not limited to, the number of scholarly citations, authored publications, press mentions, and impact relevance on what’s being studied in colleges, among others.
