On October 10 at the Hyatt Regency Irvine, UC Irvine honored distinguished alumni who have made remarkable contributions to the university and the broader community. One of this year's Lauds & Laurels Distinguished Alumna was Tracy Carmichael ‘03, Ph.D. ‘13 of the UC Irvine School of Education.
Carmichael's passion for education and her unwavering commitment to advocacy have made her an inspirational leader in our community. Through her impactful research and dedication to policy work, she champions the needs of young people in the education system. Her devotion to UC Irvine is evident in her role as co-host of the UC Irvine podcast “Our Kids” where she explores the profound impact of hunger, homelessness, and under-education on students.
Since 1971, the UC Irvine Alumni Association (UCIAA) and its board of directors have presented Lauds Y Laurels, the association’s highest honor at UC Irvine. Lauds & Laurels is one of the university’s oldest awards ceremonies, a tradition that has recognized more than 800 members of the UC Irvine community for their service to the university, the community, or their profession.
We congratulate Carmichael on her well-deserved recognition and appreciate her leadership and dedication to improving the lives of young people. Her contributions to the Anteater community will continue to shine brightly for years to come.
