Master of Arts in Teaching + Credential Program
Earn a master's degree and teaching credential in 14 months.
The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program enables students to receive a master's degree and a single or multiple subject teaching credential in 14 months. The MAT with Single Subject Credential program prepares candidates to teach Social Science, Mathematics, English Language Arts, Sciences, Art, or World Languages at the middle or high school level. The MAT with Multiple Subject Credential program prepares students to teach all grade levels and content areas within the elementary school curriculum. Teacher candidates in both programs experience a yearlong school site apprenticeship, where they can apply the content-specific teaching practices and theories studied in coursework.

Our Core
Commitments
Equity:  We prepare candidates to understand the challenges faced by under-served populations and help them develop agency to advocate for equity in teaching and learning.
Equity in Education
Learning and Learners: Our candidates learn to design and implement rigorous and responsive curriculum that draws on students’ competencies, knowledge and experiences.
Teaching and Learning in the Content Areas: We prepare candidates to develop their content knowledge for teaching and pedagogical practices in carefully mentored field based experiences in the disciplines.
Learning from Teaching: We engage candidates in cycles of observation, enactment and inquiry
of teaching and learning so they can continue to learn and improve their practice.
Leadership and Agency: We prepare our candidate to take on leadership roles for improving instruction by modeling best practices for professional growth.
