The UC Irvine School of Education is delighted to welcome Dr. Ellie Marsh (nèe Goldberg) as the new director of UC Irvine CalTeach. Marsh, who joined the university in September, describes this role as her “dream job,” blending her passion for teacher preparation, STEM education, and transformative learning experiences.
“Leading a program like CalTeach is why I went back to school to get my Ph.D. in the first place,” said Marsh. “Training the next generation of STEM teachers is my number one passion. There is nothing like the joy I get from seeing my students go on to teach their students and spread the love they have for math or science to the next generation of learners. I look forward to many years working with the incredible CalTeach family and colleagues across UC Irvine and beyond.” With over 20 years of experience in education, Marsh has taught high school mathematics and led pre-service teacher programs at institutions like the University of Texas at Austin, Johns Hopkins University, and Brown University. She holds a Ph.D. from UT Austin, an M.Ed. from Harvard University, and an M.A.T. from Johns Hopkins. |
As director, Marsh will lead the CalTeach Undergraduate Blended Program in Math and Science, which prepares undergraduates to earn teaching credentials alongside STEM degrees. Her leadership will build on CalTeach’s mission to prepare exceptional STEM educators who inspire future generations.
We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Marsh to the UC Irvine School of Education and look forward to the innovative leadership and expertise she will bring to the UC Irvine CalTeach program.
