Below is a sample of the ways the UCI School of Education Master of Arts in Teaching + Credential program supports our diverse community of teacher candidates.
Bilingual Authorization Program
Candidates who are bilingual in Spanish/English may be eligible to enroll in the Bilingual Authorization Program (BAP). The BAP exists within the Multiple Subject Credential + MAT program for bilingual candidates who wish to add the Bilingual Authorization in Spanish to their Multiple Subject Credential.

Black Thriving Initiative
The School of Education's MAT program is building upon UCI's Black Thriving Initiative commitment to increase recruitment of black students.
UCI Researchers awarded Spencer Foundation grant to improve recruitment of Black teacher education candidates
The Spencer Foundation awarded a team of UCI School of Education researchers a Racial Equity Special Research Grant to identify existing teacher recruitment practices of two university-based teacher preparation programs in Southern California and recommend promising practices for improving the recruitment of Black candidates.

Teacher Diversity Program
The UCI Teacher Diversity Program is committed to becoming advocates for diversity in our own communities and schools by recruiting and sustaining a diverse body of teachers, providing inclusive classroom resources, and promoting humanizing pedagogies. The program hosts events and provides resources to prepare educators to advocate for diversity.
