On April 27, the UC Irvine School of Education welcomed 20 students from Northwood High School enrolled in a new Careers in Education course. The program introduces students to the teaching profession through classroom observations and fieldwork across the Irvine Unified School District.
During their visit to the School of Education, students met with Susan Toma-Berge, director of the Teacher Education program, Stacy Yung, coordinator for the Single Subject Credential program, and Doron Zinger, professor at California State University, Dominguez Hills. Together they discussed credentialing programs, the college experience, and the many pathways into teaching. |
The visit offered students a chance to ask questions, explore next steps and begin imagining themselves in the field.
“Our students enjoyed their time at UCI and particularly enjoyed hearing about the different pathways available at the university level,” shared teacher Greg Guy. “Above all, the students left excited about their own next steps.”
