
Biography
Gabe Avakian Orona is a Ph.D. student in Education at the University of California, Irvine. His research focuses on measurement and assessment in higher education. More specifically, he is interested in conceptualizing and constructing, designing and analyzing, assessments consonant with the aims of higher education, and using these to evaluate student learning outcomes. Much of this work centers on issues of validity, and the appropriate use and interpretation of test scores. Consequently, this involves applying a broad range of statistical and psychometric models to investigate the structure of and relations between critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and other 21st century student competencies assessed via tests and survey instruments.
