
Biography
Nia Nickerson, Ph.D., is a postdoctoral fellow in the School of Education at the University of California, Irvine working with Dr. Julie Washington. She holds a doctorate from the Combined Program in Education and Psychology at the University of Michigan. Her research focuses on brain, language, and literacy development, with an emphasis on the bidialectal and bilingual experiences of Black and Latino children. She also investigates bias in neuroscience and explores solutions for inclusion. In addition to her work as a scholar and educator, she is a multifaceted creative with a passion for visual and performance art.
