Celebrating Excellence in Arts Education: Renee Weitzel Honored with 2025 OCMAA Award

The School of Education is proud to recognize Renee Weitzel, lecturer in the MAT program and instructor of Visual Arts methods courses, for receiving the 2025 Orange County Music and Arts Administrators (OCMAA) Award for Elementary Visual Art. Hosted by the Orange County Department of Education in partnership with the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, the annual awards highlight educators who elevate and expand arts learning across the region.

Renee’s award reflects her exceptional leadership and creativity in visual arts education, as well as her long-standing impact in the Capistrano Unified School District. In the MAT program, she brings that same passion to preparing future teachers, helping them integrate meaningful, high-quality arts instruction into their own classrooms.
