During the 30th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium in May, Professor June Ahn was recognized as the Chancellor’s Faculty Award Recipient for Undergraduate Mentorship for the UCI School of Education. The honor, awarded by the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP), recognizes a student- and faculty-nominated mentor who makes a difference in undergraduate students’ lives.
Ahn is the faculty director of the Orange County Educational Advancement Network (OCEAN), a network of partnerships between K-12 schools, non-profit organizations, and the School of Education with the goal of actionable scholarship to positively impact its partner communities. His research lab, the Design & Partnership Lab (daplab), focuses on using participatory design methods to create community technologies or social systems. He is also a faculty member of the Connected Learning Lab. Ahn’s research interests include learning technologies, research-practice partnerships, human-computer interaction, educational technology, data use and analytics. |
This year marked the 30th anniversary of the Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium. The UROP-hosted symposium highlights students’ achievements in research by offering hundreds of undergraduates the opportunity to present the results of their research or creative activities.
