"While I worked exceedingly hard to make a place for myself, I laid my head down each night feeling as though something was missing. Having my son in 2016 intensified that feeling. When I look into his face, I see every possibility that a young life has to offer. I am going into teaching because I want to help my students see all the possibilities within themselves. I feel passionately about self-reflection and expression. I want to help my students find their voices, fuel their curiosities, and spread kindness in a world that can be rather unkind at times. I am deeply grateful for the Mary Roosevelt Scholarship in Teaching and Learning. It provides financial support for me and my family as I navigate the wild and wonderful MAT program at UCI!
