On June 14, UCI’s Diverse Educational Community and Doctoral Experience (DECADE) named Doctoral Candidate Lina Brodsky a recipient of the Outstanding DECADE Representative Award for the 2022-2023 academic year. Brodsky and the other representatives were recognized for their hard work, dedication, and resiliency throughout the year and awarded $1,000.
Brodsky performed an “incredible amount of service to the School of Education community, taking us through and out of the pandemic these last few years,” said Professor Kylie Peppler. “For context, there are about 120 active student reps cross-campus, so it's exciting to see Lina recognized in this fashion.” DECADE student representatives are current UCI graduate students who work to foster a sense of belonging through programming and events. Most DECADE representatives coordinate one event per quarter with a focus on making their school or department a more welcoming place to be through community-building events, cultural competency seminars, or professional development opportunities. |
