Community Engagement
The School of Education's community-engaged initiatives bridge research and practice to improve learning opportunities and outcomes for K-12 students in our local communities
The UCI School of Education is home to several initiatives intended to foster community-driven solutions to education issues, problems, and inequities faced by our local communities with implications for national and global impact. As a cornerstone of a preeminent research university, the School of Education’s community-engaged initiatives link strong research knowledge and expertise to pressing local needs.
Our faculty and students partner with colleagues across campus to design programs that are informed by the most up-to-date research on teaching and learning across the K-12 university spectrum, teacher learning and professional development, policy and systemic approaches to educational improvement, issues of equity and social justice, and human development. In addition, we systematically study the impact of our programs and projects through research that seeks to refine theoretical understanding and guide practice toward innovative solutions.
Through these initiatives, and with the support of a top-10 public university, the School of Education is transforming educational access and opportunity in Orange County and beyond.
