Andres Bustamante recognized by DREAM Center for an
outstanding faculty mentorship award
The assistant professor received an award at the center’s 2022 conference.
Andres Bustamante, assistant professor, was awarded the UCI DREAM Center’s Outstanding Faculty Mentorship Award based on his exemplary support and contributions to the undocumented community. A mentor for the DREAM Project Fellowship, Bustamante received the award at the center’s UCI Rising Together, Thriving Together Conference this year.
"I'm honored to be recognized for my participation in the DREAM Project Fellowship program. The fellows inspire me with their passion and perseverance. Working with these brilliant young scholars is a privilege and one of my favorite things about my job," Bustamante said. The fellowship pairs undergraduate and graduate fellows with a project mentor to work on a mutually beneficial career and leadership development collaboration. It provides students, regardless of immigration status, with academic and experiential learning, professional development, and financial and networking opportunities. |
An assistant professor of human development in context, Bustamante translates rigorous science from the lab into meaningful research and practical applications in the classroom and community. He designs and implements play-based early childhood STEM interventions in places and spaces where children and families spend time.
