Enhancing Brave Spaces Through Inclusion Activities
A yearlong series for School of Education staff, faculty and students
The UCI School of Education Climate Council is pleased to present a yearlong series, "Enhancing Brave Spaces through Inclusion Activities."
School of Education and CFEP staff, faculty and students are invited to six inclusion activities throughout the year on various topics. The activities will build community in a quick and lively way; cultivate equity, trust and rapport; strengthen a collective sense of belonging at the center of learning, and more.
Goals for the activities are for participants to learn the critical importance of activism over advocacy; anchor and advance equity, social justice and inclusion through collective dialogue and discussion; acknowledge personal bias and blind spots; commit to listening, growing and improving; and be more intentional about creating inclusive spaces in academia.
The series is being led and organized by Acacia Warren. Activities will be led by Warren and feature additional guest speakers. Attendees will be asked to participate in a dialogue on what resonates with them about each topic, and how they can raise awareness and honor each topic.
As a bonus, each inclusion activity will feature a raffle in which attendees can win a $25 Amazon gift card.
Support is provided through the School of Education Climate Council's "Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Advancement Spaces: Learning to Action" call.
To enhance our brave space together, titles will be left at the door. Everyone will go by a first name basis.
