Biography
Karajean Hyde earned her BA in Mathematics from Southern California College and then an MA in teaching from Vanguard University. She holds a single subject teaching credential in Mathematics with supplementary authorization in Spanish. She was a math teacher in Santa Ana for 10 years. During that time she earned teacher of the year honors and also served as department chair and coach for volleyball, softball and track-and-field.
Mrs. Hyde began working for UC Irvine as a co-director of the Irvine Math Project. In this role, she provides professional development to Pre-K-12 teachers from local school districts. She also writes district curriculum guides and quarterly assessments. Mrs. Hyde served as the Teacher Leader Director for a recent NSF MSP grant at UC Irvine. Mrs. Hyde also taught undergraduate courses for the Department of Physical Sciences through the Cal Teach program- aimed at recruiting and preparing undergraduates to be future math and science teachers. She also teaches math methods for Pre-Interns and supervises both intern and student teachers.
