Dr. Feliza Ortiz-Licon was honored as the School of Education's Distinguished Alumna during UCI's 46th Lauds & Laurel's Celebration. Dr. Ortiz-Licon is Senior Director of the National Council of La Raza and a member of the California State Board of Education.

CASE Awards 43 Certificates in Afterschool Education
The School of Education hosted an awards ceremony for the 43 undergraduates who earned their Certificate in Afterschool Education (CASE) this year by completing six courses and a minimum 70 hours of field experience in university designated afterschool locations.

Awarded Keith Curry Undergraduate Scholarship
Melissa Lu has received the 2016 Keith Curry Undergraduate Scholarship for outstanding scholarship and unusual perseverance in pursuing her education. Dr. Curry, CEO of Compton Community College and a SoE alumnus, presented the award to Ms. Lu during a reception in May.

Citizen Scientists Visit UCI
Students from Roosevelt Elementary in Santa Ana who are participating in Project CRYSTAL as citizen scientists visited UCI as a culminating research activity. The students have been research the ecology challenge (native vs. invasive non-native plants) at Crystal Cove State Park.
