Richard Arum Named New Dean of School of Education

Richard Arum, Professor and Chair of New York University's Department of Sociology, will be the new dean of the School of Education, effective July 1. Professor Arum is an expert on the legal and institutional environments of schools, social stratification, and digital education.

CalTeach Science & Math Program undergraduates have produced a series of promotional videos showcasing UCI's 4-year STEM degree + Teacher Credential in Chemistry, Physics, Math, Earth Science, & Biology. UCI's CalTeach has been ranked in the top 10 teacher education programs in the U.S.

DECADE Launches Website to Promote Diversity & Inclusivity

SoE DECADE (Diverse Educational Community and Doctoral Experience) announces launching of the organization's website. The website introduces current officers and provides information about DECADE's Peer Mentor program. Decade Faculty Mentor, Associate Professor Susanne Jaeggi, is featured as the site's first spotlight. SoE DECADE Website.

School Hosts Recruitment Weekend for Fall 2016 Admission

SoE hosted recruitment weekend for 28 applicants offered 2016 admission to the Ph.D. in Education program. Activities included individual meetings with faculty, research presentations, lab demonstrations, funding and housing information, and networking time with enrolled students. The weekend concluded with a picnic at Corona del Mar Beach.
