New Grant to Study Virtual Learning Environments
Professor and Interim Dean Mark Warschauer has received a $2.5 million grant from NSF: "Investigating Virtual Learning Environments". His research team will be studying 50 flipped, hybrid, and online courses to compare student's attitudes toward STEM study, learning outcomes, and success and persistence in future STEM courses.

SoE Funded Research Tops $40 Million
SoE research grants have reached $40,000,000, ranking UCI's School of Education in the 100th percentile (top-ranked in the U.S.) of grant dollars per faculty member. SoE also is the highest-ranking when compared to other institutions in articles published, citations, and grant dollars per faculty member. Current Research

New Grant to Study Virtual Learning in Vocational Education
UC Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellow and Assistant Professor Constance Ilohhas been awarded an ECMC Foundation Grant to investigate online platforms used in vocational postsecondary education programs and training. Her research will expand understanding of opportunities and challenges present in postsecondary virtual learning environments. Read more.
School Welcomes Incoming Class of Ph.D. Students
Fourteen new Ph.D. in Education students are joining 65 doctoral students currently enrolled in the program. The seven men and seven women have arrived with experience in teaching, children's media production, CHOC, the U.S. Navy, the U.S. State Department, the World Bank, consulting, program administration, and program evaluation. Ph.D. Fall Poster Session Highlights First Year Research
Ph.D. in Education students presented their research findings during the School of Education's annual Fall Poster Session. Following the protocol of the American Educational Research Association poster sessions, the doctoral students explained their choice of methodology and discussed their findings with faculty, students, and guests from the community.

BA in Education Sciences Attracting Record Number of Undergraduates
Entering its second year, the UCI BA in Education Sciences is attracting a record number of students seeking to major in the discipline. This fall 550 undergraduates have declared a major in BAES, including 75 incoming freshmen and 25 transfer students. In its first year (2014), the program graduated 123 students who were able to complete course requirements in their senior year. BAES Information
