Two New Grants for Associate Professor Susanne Jaeggi

Two new grants are supporting Associate Professor Susanne Jaeggi's research of cognitive plasticity and the neuroscience of learning: "Working Memory Training in Older Adults", funded by NIH, and "Engaging Learning Network", funded by NSF Science of Learning.

1,500+ Educators and Students Participate in UCI Writing Project Summer Programs 

The UCI Writing Project's summer offerings included six Summer Youth Workshops for PreK-12 youth, a SAT Preparation course for high school students, the Summer Institute for Teachers, and a staff development workshop for teachers on the Common Core/Six Traits Writing.

Summer Forum Promotes University-School Collaboration

SoE's two-day forum "Collaborating to Support the Trajectory of Teacher Learning" brought together school district administrators, department chairs, induction support providers, and other education leaders to explore ways in which university-school collaboration can support teacher learning and growth.

UCI CalTeach Summer Alumni Event Encourages Teacher Collaboration

CalTeach alumni shared teaching strategies and early career experiences during the program's summer networking dinner: Back to School Kickoff. Faculty and graduates discussed program strengths and considered types of alumni support that could prove most valuable to first-year teachers.

Incoming Doctoral Students' Work Showcased at Competitive Edge

Five incoming PhD in Education students who participated in UCI's Competitive Edge program presented their research at UCI's Graduate Student Research Symposium on August 13. The students had worked with a faculty advisor for eight weeks, participating in lab sessions and attending workshops while researching in their specialization area.
