Biography
Lora Cawelti is a PhD student in the School of Education specializing in both TLEI and EPSC. She is advised by Kylie Peppler and Liane Brouillette and is a community research fellow with OCEAN.
Before coming to UCI, Lora was Associate Director overseeing in-school programs and teacher development at P.S. ARTS, a Los Angeles area non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing arts education to underserved public schools and communities. Her background as a performing artist, teaching artist, and nonprofit arts administrator informs her research agenda where she prioritizes community engaged research, equity and inclusion, and seeks to bridge the gap between policy and practice in arts education. Additionally, Lora works with Creative Connections in UCI Claire Trevor School of the Arts to prepare undergraduate arts majors to work in local schools as teaching artist interns.
Lora holds a BA in Music and English from the University of Hawaii and an MA in Education from Pepperdine University.
