Biography

Dennis Dang is a Ph.D. student specializing in Teaching, Learning, and Educational Improvement (TLEI). His primary interests are in educational psychology, educational data sciences, postsecondary education, and measurement.

Dennis is currently working on two projects at UC Irvine, both of which leverage clickstream data from educational technologies to derive insights about student learning. At the Individualizing Student Instruction (ISI) Lab, he has been deeply involved in the research development of OLOS (Optimizing Learning Opportunities for Students) — a web-based observation system for early childhood classrooms. As part of UCI's Next Generation Undergraduate Success Measurement Project, he analyzes Canvas Learning Management System data at the institutional scale in an effort to develop a robust measure of student engagement.

Prior to joining the School of Education, Dennis received his B.A. in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, and his A.A. in Social and Behavioral Sciences from Irvine Valley College.
