Biography
Raymond Villareal is a Ph.D. student in the School of Education specializing in Human Development in Context (HDiC) under Dr. Susanne Jaeggi. Raymond has a background in school psychology, earning both his MEd and EdS in School Psychology from the College of William & Mary. Prior to WM, he attended UCI as an undergraduate in the Psychology and Social Behavior program.
Raymond's research interests include understanding the influence trauma has on executive functioning and motivation in marginalized populations, how cognitive training can improve executive functioning in these individuals throughout the lifespan, and neuroplasticity in students with prolonged trauma exposure.
Raymond is passionate about improving the lives of individuals from low-income neighborhoods, marginalized populations, children from homes where one or both parents experienced incarceration, and street/prison gang members.
