Biography
Elizabeth Mendoza, Ph.D., is a Senior Researcher in the School of Education at the University of California, Irvine, as part of the CoATTEND project, which seeks to co-create professional development frameworks that foster equity in math classrooms with teachers, community members, and researchers.
Her scholarship intersects a sociocultural approach to learning sciences, critical race theory, and participatory action research to support educators in developing practices that challenge dominant ideologies and re-imagining spaces of healing and transformation.
Dr. Mendoza is the co-editor of Power, Equity and (Re)Design: Bridging learning and critical theories in learning ecologies for youth and is currently a program co-chair for the Critical Educators for Social Justice (CESJ) AERA SIG.
She earned her Ph.D. in Learning Sciences at the University of Colorado Boulder.
