Responsibilities
Bio
I was born in South Korea, raised in New Orleans, and grew up in SoCal. I earned both a bachelors in Pure Mathematics and master's in Education from UCLA.
I have been in the classroom for 14 years now, 11 of which I spent as a teacher leader (mentor teacher, department chair, course team lead, math coach). I have also been working with UCLA in creating and facilitating professional development and with CSULB as a university supervisor.
My favorite part of being an educator is supporting teachers. Teaching is life-changing for you and for your students. But teaching is also really hard, so it should not be done in isolation. Throughout my career, I have acquired skills specifically in supporting teachers, and I look forward to being able to support this team in every way that I can.
- Building and maintaining a network connecting the university preparation program to local schools and teachers
- Training and collaborating with site-based master mentor teachers to enhance local support for mentors and student teachers
- Increasing the professional development offerings and supports for mentor teachers and alumni
- Enhancing and building academic support services for students in the teacher preparation pathways
- Coordinating outreach efforts with community colleges to expand transfer student recruitment efforts, with particular emphasis on historically under-represented STEM and bilingual students interested in pathways into teaching
- Overseeing program data collection and analysis to assess program efforts and their effectiveness
