Responsibilities
  • Support multiple subject candidates, including students within the Bilingual Authorization Program
  • Monitors student teachers' progress in fieldwork, coursework, and professional responsibilities
  • Observes students teachers and provides feedback
  • Teaches classes in the MAT program
  • Builds partnerships with school sites.

​Biography
Myuriel earned an MAT and MBA at UCI, and brings a wealth of experience to this position. She has both teaching and coaching experience in elementary schools, including seven years as a first and fourth grade teacher in a Spanish-English dual immersion school in the Saddleback Valley Unified School District and three years as a teacher on special assignment in the Newport-Mesa Unified School District.  In her role as a TOSA, she planned and facilitated professional learning experiences designed to help teachers develop pedagogical content knowledge and understanding of student thinking through an asset-based lens.  Since graduating from UCI’s MAT + Credential program, Myuriel has been an active participant in professional organizations and contributed to research on equity in math practices.
