New chapter for community engagement: Stephanie Reyes-Tuccio appointed as vice provost
Irvine, Calif. March 20, 2024 – The University of California, Irvine announced the appointment of Dr. Stephanie Reyes-Tuccio as the Vice Provost for Educational and Community Partnerships on March 18. In this new role, Vice Provost Reyes-Tuccio will enhance the Center for Educational Partnerships (CFEP) programs by spearheading new strategic initiatives aimed at fostering community engagement and creating academic pathways across the university through the newly formed Office of Educational and Community Partnerships.
Under her guidance, the Office of Educational and Community Partnerships will extend its reach – collaborating with UCI's various schools and its health division to strengthen community and school engagement, all while prioritizing the university's strategic goals. The CFEP and UC Irvine School of Education partnership will continue through a dedicated relationship built on deep-rooted collaboration, joint achievements and a commitment to excellence. “Together, the School of Education and CFEP have achieved remarkable milestones through our years of partnership. These include the School’s rise to a top-ranking and globally recognized school, CFEP doubling in size, and an expansion into health and international programming,” said Frances Contreras, UC Irvine School of Education dean and professor, and Stephanie Reyes-Tuccio, vice provost for educational and community partnerships, in a joint statement. |
“Most notably, it contributed to establishing thriving networks such as OCEAN, The Science Project, Teacher Academy, the Borderless Leadership partnership with Mexico, the K-16 Orange County partnership, and leading systemwide convenings through the Chicano/Latino Advisory Council to UC President Michael V. Drake,” they shared.
CFEP's impact is far-reaching – annually supporting over 30,000 students and numerous schools and organizations in Orange County and in the surrounding region. Vice Provost Reyes-Tuccio's tenure has seen the introduction of innovative programs and partnerships, an expansion into health sciences, the establishment of UCI student support centers and more than $75 million in external grants and contracts.
Since joining UCI in 2000, Vice Provost Reyes-Tuccio has exemplified leadership and dedication to community engagement. Her recent recognition with two Woman of the Year awards, from U.S. Congressional Representative Lou Correa (CA-46) and the National Hispanic Business Women Association, underscores her commitment and service to the community and the university.
