"What Matters to Me and Why" with Dean Frances Contreras
Frances Contreras, dean and professor at the UC Irvine School of Education, has been recognized as a leading scholar on issues of equity and access for underrepresented students in the preschool to higher education pipeline, as well as receiving high honors for her leadership and research contributions, particularly for Latino student equity. She has more than 17 years in academic leadership – including her prior roles at UC San Diego, where she was a professor and associate vice chancellor for faculty diversity, equity, and inclusion; and at University of Washington, where she was the director of the College of Education’s higher education program.
