Thank you to our Founding Alumni Chapter President, Dr. Wenli Jen!
The UCI School of Education, alumni chapter board, and alumni chapter members would like to share their immense gratitude to the outgoing founding president of the official School of Education alumni chapter, Dr. Wenli Jen ’04.
In her tenure as the founding president, Dr. Jen led the launch of the official chapter, grew membership by more than 100 percent, created and maintained social communications on the chapter’s official Facebook page, served as honorary Mace Marshall for the 2019 commencement ceremonies and, most recently, helped lead in the official re-naming of the education chapter to “Anteaters in Education,” opening membership to all UCI alumni who work in education or education-related fields.
Jen also supported several chapter and School events, including serving as a mock interviewer for students in the MAT program and moderator for the Chapter’s 2020 annual service event, an education panel discussion with high school students from the Save Our Youth organization. She also represented the chapter at 2020 homecoming events and helped plan and participate in several other chapter events throughout her tenure.
“We are incredibly grateful to the service and leadership Dr. Jen demonstrated during her time as School of Education alumni chapter president,” said Richard Arum, dean and professor, UCI School of Education. “Dr. Jen helped establish networking, professional development and other programs in order to better support our more than 11,000 alumni worldwide, and for them to connect with one another and future alumni.”
“I am very honored to serve my alma mater in this capacity – As a double Anteater, I am so proud of the high-caliber professionals that I was fortunate to have met and collaborated with in making ‘Anteaters in Education’ a reality,” Jen said. “I hope that our alumni chapter continues to grow and support educators to do what they do best in making a positive impact in their respective roles in our communities.”
Jen will be succeeded by current Chapter Vice President, Dr. Frank Olmos ’10 on July 1 2021 for the 2021-22 term. Jen will continue to serve on the chapter board as a member at-large.
Thank you, Dr. Wenli Jen, for your contribution to the School of Education and service to our 11,000+ School of Education alumni population!
