Alumna advances to research assistant professor at NYU Grossman School of Medicine

7/16/2020

Alumna Elizabeth Miller (Ph.D. ‘16) will join the faculty at the New York University Grossman School of Medicine in September as a research assistant professor. There, Miller will work with Professor Clancy Blair on his NIH-funded Family Life Project, a collaboration with the ECHO (Environmental Influences on Child Health Outcomes) Initiative. Additionally, Miller will continue her research with Professor Pamela Morris on the NIH-funded Smart Beginnings project.

In 2016, Miller joined the NYU Institute of Human Development and Social Change as project director for Smart Beginnings, later serving as a research assistant professor and research director for the Smart Beginnings team.

Miller’s research foci include early childhood policy interventions and how these interventions can increase low-income children’s school readiness. She is particularly interested in how well specific policies work for groups, with a special focus on dual language learners. Recently, Miller expanded her studies to include interventions for infants and toddlers, ages 0-3.

As a doctoral student at UCI, Miller specialized in Educational Policy and Social Context. Her advisor was Distinguished Professor George Farkas.
