Master's student awarded Dean's Scholarship at 2019-20 Scholarship Awards Ceremony

Kara Kunert - passionate, kind, outgoing - is a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) candidate pursuing her single subject mathematics teaching credential.

Kunert received a School of Education Dean's Scholarship at the School of Education's 2019-2020 Scholarship Awards Ceremony on November 1.

​Dean's scholarship recipients are selected for their academic achievement and commitment to developing their skills and knowledge as new teachers.

"I am going into teaching to help students see themselves as learners capable of achieving mastery in math as well as other content areas," Kunert said. 

"I want to help students find value in their education beyond grades and that learning can be meaningful and impactful in their lives outside of school and impact their futures. I am so honored to be receiving this award and am grateful for my peers and professors affirmation of my academic efforts. The Dean scholarship will relieve some of the financial burden of becoming a teacher and allow me to focus more on my students."
