Master's student awarded Rudy Hanley Scholarship at 2019-2020 School of Education Awards Ceremony

12/16/2019

Saeed Marandi - open-minded, open-hearted, sharing - is a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) candidate pursuing his single subject teaching credential in history.

Marandi was awarded a Rudy Hanley Scholarship during the 2019-2020 UCI School of Education Scholarship Awards Ceremony on November 1.

Rudy Hanley scholarships are granted to students pursuing a master's in teaching who demonstrate the highest level potential for future success in their academic endeavors and future career.

"I am thrilled and honored to receive this award from the School of Education" Marandi said. "I have wanted to teach ever since my high school history teachers inspired me with their humor, their love of students, and their belief in the enduring beauty and majesty of the soul. After studying History at UCLA, I fell in love with learning and the classroom experience."

"I am grateful to be here. Thank you so much for this honor, which will help me afford tuition and hopefully be among the first Iranian-American teachers to teach History in Southern California."
