Master's student awarded Rudy Hanley Scholarship at 2019-2020 School of Education Awards Ceremony

12/16/2019

Peyton Nunez is a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) candidate pursuing her multiple subject teaching credential.

Nunez was awarded a Rudy Hanley Scholarship during the 2019-2020 UCI School of Education Scholarship Awards Ceremony on November 1.

Rudy Hanley scholarships are granted to students pursuing a master's in teaching who demonstrate the highest level potential for future success in their academic endeavors and future career.

"I had the opportunity to do missionary work in Eastern Africa, teaching underprivileged children in local preschools," said Nunez. "Since that experience, my heart has been set on teaching students in low-income areas. As a future teacher I hope to build relationships with my students that will empower them and provide them with the necessary tools to chase after their dreams. I feel so very blessed for this opportunity and hope to give back to students in need. I am so grateful for this award as maintaining my job in order to pay tuition has been very challenging. This scholarship has taken some of the financial burden off of me and provided the opportunity to soak up every experience I can during this amazing program!"
