Duy Le is a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) candidate pursuing his multiple subject teaching credential.
Le received a University of California Office of the President President's Educator Fellowship at the School of Education's 2019-2020 Scholarship Awards Ceremony on November 1.
President's Educator Fellowships are awarded to students with a demonstrated commitment to working in public schools that primarily serve students from low-income families.
"Growing up as a quiet student in a foreign country, I’ve experienced my share of struggles within an educational system that discourages many from ever finding their voice and ability to demonstrate their values to society," Le said. "As a teaching candidate, I’m hoping to stay true to my aspiration of educating myself in order to eventually serve those going through the same struggles that I did. I am deeply humbled by this award, not just for its monetary value, but also because it is reaffirming to know that my efforts are being recognized by the very institution in which I am developing the skills needed to contribute to my cause."
