Master's student awarded Promising Master of Arts in Teaching award

Jazmine Nava is a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) candidate pursuing  her multiple subject bilingual teaching credential.

Nava received a Promising Master of Arts in Teaching award at the School of Education's 2019-2020 Scholarship Awards Ceremony on November 1.

Promising Master of Arts in Teaching awards, provided through a Hispanic Serving Institution grant from the U.S. Department of Education, support students who demonstrate the potential to become inspirational teachers.

"After attending UC Irvine for undergraduate and being a part of the corporate workforce, I realized that I longed to do more and make a difference in the lives of others" Nava said.

"I am looking forward to creating an inclusive classroom environment that celebrates diversity! I want my future students to be proud of their culture and see the value in their multiculturalism. I am honored to be a student teacher candidate and am so thankful to be awarded with this scholarship. Thank you UCI!"
