Master's student awarded Mary Roosevelt Honor Scholar in Teaching and Learning Scholarship

12/16/2019

Jasmine Dominguez - optimistic, ambitious, meticulous - is a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) candidate pursuing her multiple subject teaching credential.

Dominguez was awarded a Mary Roosevelt Honor Scholar in Teaching and Learning Scholarship at the School of Education's 2019-2020 Scholarship Awards Ceremony on November 1.

Mary Roosevelt Scholarships are awarded to MAT candidates exhibiting excellence in academic scholarship who have demonstrated dedication to improving the lives and educational opportunities of students and the skills and dispositions of leadership.

"I was born and raised in Southern California," Dominguez said. "I recently received my BA in Liberal Studies at Cal Poly Pomona and the first graduate of my family. With four years of experience as a preschool teacher, this opportunity enlightened my passion of becoming an educator and has shown me how to create lessons that support each child’s physical, cognitive and social-emotional development. As a teacher, I feel it is my responsibility to design a purposeful and creative learning environment that promotes positivity. I am honored to be a part of the UCI MAT program, and elated to be receiving this award!"
