2018 Summer Youth Program Expands Offerings

3/14/2018

In its 35th year, UCI's 2018 Summer Youth Program is offering even more options for K-12 youth. This summer's participants can choose among eight three-week session, held in a total of five locations throughout Orange County - Irvine, Tustin, Aliso Viejo, Huntington Beach, and Laguna Niguel.

Young people still can choose the program's time-honored courses in writing and science/math. Afterschool options continue to be offered in art and sports/fitness.

New this year are Fantasy and Fiction Writing (grades 4-6), Digital Storytelling (grades 6-8), Argument Writing & Research (grades 6-8), Public Speaking (grades 6-8), College Admissions Essay Workshop (grades 11-12), AP Language and Composition Preparation Workshop (grades 10-12), and PSAT/NMSQT Preparation Course (grades 8-10).  Applicants should check the schedule of classes to determine session dates and location.

Since introduction of the Summer Youth Program in 1983, more than 35,000 youth have attended SYP classes, some coming from as far away as Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. All classes are taught by California-certified teachers with instruction designed to meet the California Common Core Standards.
