UCI's School of Education has joined with UCI's Department of Spanish & Portuguese to offer a new Bilingual Education Minor, with the goal of better preparing future bilingual teachers. The minor provides undergraduates with foundational knowledge of current issues in bilingual education and linguistic and cultural phenomena, along with opportunities for hand-on experience in a K-12 bilingual classroom.
Student minoring in bilingual education must comply with placement policies and fulfill the following course requirements: A. Core requirement HUM 52/EDUC 52/LING 51B: Foundations of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism B. School of Education EDUC 101: Tutoring and Teacher Aiding in Bilingual Classrooms EDUC 107: Child Development in Education EDUC 124: Multicultural Education in K-12 Schools C. Department of Spanish & Portuguese SPAN 101B: Introduction to Latin American Literatures and Cultures SPAN 113B: Introduction to Spanish Linguistics Plus one additional upper-division course taught in Spanish in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese Additional information Comments are closed.
