Competitive Edge Summer Research Program
Symposium Presentation: August 16, 2018 UCI Student Center Title: "Which Writing Works: A Meta-Analysis Comparing Print and Digital Writing Outcomes" Presenter: John William Szura Faculty Advisor: Penelope Collins Abstract In practice, many students choose when to write physically (i.e., with pen and paper) or digitally (i.e., computer). The objective of this meta-analysis is to investigate whether the quality of writing differs depending on the medium. First, studies published from 2000 to 2018 will be screened from several online international databases (e.g. ERIC*, PsychINFO*). Next we will code for possible moderators such as collaborative or individual writing and grade level of participants. Implications of this research may be beneficial for practitioners, such as suggesting which mode of writing may be most suitable for certain writing tasks. Comments are closed.
