"Longitudinal Evidence on the Role of Executive Function Deficits in Early Childhood"

Professors George Farkas and Paul Morgan (Penn State) delivered a plenary presentation on September 26, 2017, at the National Science Foundation Conference on STEM Education, Learning Disabilities, and the Science of Dyslexia, held in Crystal City, Virginia.

Their presentation, Longitudinal Evidence on the Role of Executive Function Deficits in Early Childhood, addressed three main questions:

1. How well are U.S. children with or at risk for disabilities progressing in mathematics & science?
2. What factors increase the risk of experiencing repeated STEM difficulties during the elementary grades? 
3. Are executive functions (EF) related to children’s STEM difficulties & so constitute potentially malleable factors to in experimentally evaluated school-based interventions?
