Photographs from the 2017 Illuminations Undergraduate Photography Challenge are on display in the School of Education. The 2017 theme was "Design of the Orange County Built Environment". Students were asked to submit photographs that encouraged viewer reflection from an aesthetic, practical, historical, ecological, sociological and/or economic viewpoint. Students submitted their photographs with a brief (~1 minute) explanatory narrative reflecting on how Orange County's built environment shapes and is shaped by human decisions and experiences. A juried exhibit of 2017 photographs chosen by faculty were displayed in the UCI Student Center from May 14 through May 27. This past summer Professor Liane Brouillette brought a group of the photographs to the School of Education to update the art gallery display in the Dean's Suite. 2017 photography challenge entries can be viewed at http://indi.com/uciilluminations/builtenvironment The 2018 Illuminations Photography Challenge is underway.
