PhD in Education student Jessica Oviatt has been notified that she is being awarded a student traineeship from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) for her project entitled “Getting them ready: The parental beliefs, values, and behaviors around transitioning.” Her project consists of surveying parents and youth with Cystic Fibrosis about their beliefs and behaviors associated with getting ready to move to adult care.
CFF offers student traineeship awards to encourage research related to Cystic Fibrosis and as a means of encouraging and maintaining interest in this area of biomedicine. Ms. Oviatt is a third year doctoral student specializing in Learning, Teaching, Cognition, and Development (LTCD). Her research interests include effects of illness and treatment on academic success, peer development, and school connectedness, and motivation for chronically ill students She is advised by Distinguished Professor Jacquelynne Eccles. .
