Date: August 15, 2019 Location: UCI Student Center Title: Teacher Noticing for Equity in Mathematics Education Author: Jose Mendez Mentors: Elizabeth van Es, Jennifer Cabrera Abstract Teachers have to notice hundreds of things each day, and this is framed by their lived experiences. This becomes an issue when teachers do not share the same socio-cultural communities as their students, as is the case for an increasingly diverse student population. Through a multi-year Participatory Action Research (PAR) design, we bring teachers, community youth leaders, and researchers together to co-construct a noticing for equity framework.
