UCI's Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) and CalTeach Undergraduate Science & Math (CalTeach) programs hosted fall orientation for over 120 Orange County educators who will be serving as mentor teachers for UCI credential candidates' classroom teaching experience. The session opened with welcomes from Director of Teacher Education Virginia Panish and Faculty Director/Assistant Professor Hosun Kang. Doron Zinger, Director the CalTeach program and Kris Houston, CalTeach Mathematics Master Teacher, followed with an interactive workshop segment on Six Practices for Effective Mentoring:
Multiple Subject Coordinator Susan Toma-Berge and Single Subject Coordinator Acacia Warren focused their presentation on Modeling the Work of Teaching and Co-Teaching. The orientation concluded with breakout sessions for the (a) MAT Single and Multiple Subject or (b) CalTeach Science and Math program.
